Don, a Northern California native, has been in the newspaper field since 1990. He's worked at the Merced Sun-Star, Reno Gazette-Journal, Auburn Sentinel and Carson City's Nevada Appeal. Don has interviewed politicians, well-known actors and law enforcement officials. He provided interviews as an "on-site" reporter for BBC Radio early in the process of the Phillip Garrido trial and was one of a dozen or so media members in the courtroom for Garrido's first court appearance. Don is a member of the Rotary Club of Historic Folsom and has served on the board of trustees for the Arts Council of Placer County, Auburn Chamber of Commerce and charitable organizations. He has also served as an adviser to the ROP program.
His column, chronicling day-to-day happenings in the area, usually publishes weekly in the Telegraph. He also writes an online column, "The Saturday Skinny," giving weight loss and diet tips. Follow him on Twitter @anewsguy.
His hobbies include grilling, hiking and photography. Don is single and has five children.
