About 200 people attended the Veterans Day Celebration in Roseville to honor the nation’s war veterans Monday morning. Veterans who served in all of the wars from Afghanistan going back to World War II were present, including lesser known conflicts in between such as Bosnia and Grenada. The 20th century war that was not represented by a veteran was World War I, of which there are believed to be no more American survivors, but they were not forgotten. “We need to remind our young people that freedom is not free and comes at a high cost,” said Dave Ramsey, commander of VFW Post 169. Congressman Tom McClintock, State Assemblywoman Beth Gaines, Placer County Supervisor Jack Duran, Roseville Mayor Pauline Roccucci and keynote speaker Col. Keith Tresh of the National Guard made brief presentations about Veterans Day, what it’s about and thanking the veterans for their service to the country.
