Chabad of Placer County lights ice sculpture menorah
By: Anne Stokes Press Tribune CorrespondentThe Chabad of Placer County, together with the Westfield Galleria, celebrated the second night of Hanukkah on Sunday, Dec. 9 with the lighting of candles atop of an ice sculpture menorah.
"We're going to have the fire of the candles burning on the ice. It's about merging different styles together. It's about unity, this is what the holiday's all about," said Rabbi Yossi Korik, director of the Chabad of Placer County. "Hanukkah is about celebrating the freedom of religion, the freedom of speech, the freedom of being, to allow and accept others for who they are. This is what we're doing at this event here tonight."
