QB Susac lifts Woodcreek Pee Wees over Natomas

Roseville blows out NU; Granite Bay stuffs Grant threat

Daniel Susac threw two touchdown passes to lift the Woodcreek Junior Timberwolves to a 16-14 victory over the Natomas Junior Nighthawks in a Sierra Football & Cheer League Pee Wee game Sept. 8 at Natomas.

Susac passed for 165 yards, and Woodcreek (2-0) totaled more than 200 yards against Natomas (0-2). Matt Willford had 80 yards receiving and a touchdown, and Grant Dizon had a 42-yard catch and run for a score. Brock Thawley rushed for 60 yards for the Timberwolves.

On defense, Thawley and Brody Stephens each had an interception, and Mack Vinsonhaler had a fumble recovery.

Roseville 38, Nevada Union 0 — The Junior Tigers (3-0) scored 30 points in the second quarter to blow out the Junior Miners (0-3) in a Sierra Valley USA Football & Cheer contest.

Carson Blatnick hit Christian Bamba for a 52-yard catch-and-carry touchdown six minutes into the game. Blatnick also threw an eight-yard scoring strike to Alex Rodriguez. Parker Henry scored on runs of 15 and six yards, and Josh Noa ran 12 yards for a touchdown.

On defense, the Junior Tigers didn’t allow Nevada Union a first down. Roseville’s special teams blocked a punt and recovered the ball on the Nevada Union 8-yard line, and the Junior Tigers recovered a kickoff on the 15.

Granite Bay 20, Grant 18 — Lamont Mason and Joe Young led a defensive charge that stuffed the Junior Pacers (1-2) in the fourth quarter, and the Junior Grizzlies (3-0) ran out the clock to secure the Sierra Valley USA victory.

Granite Bay took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter on touchdown runs of five yards by Tristan Lee and 50 yards by Vincent Ellison.

Grant scored once each in the second and third quarters before Granite Bay drove the length of the field and took a 20-12 lead on Chase Garmon’s two-yard scoring run.


Woodcreek 47, Natomas 0 — Marco Esquivel scored on a long run on the third play of the game, and the Timberwolves (2-0) rolled to a 47-0 halftime lead over the Nighthawks (0-2).

Woodcreek’s Tyler England recovered the ensuing kickoff, which led to a touchdown. The Timberwolves scored two touchdowns on defense. J.C. Santini scored on a fumble return after teammate Ray Thomas jarred the ball loose from a Natomas running back, and Esquivel returned an interception for a touchdown.

The Timberwolves also blocked a Natomas punt, and Jake Bianchi picked up the ball and ran for a touchdown.

Mighty Mites

Woodcreek 43, Natomas 0 — Devyn Powanich-Lee scored on a 60-yard burst up the middle on the first play from scrimmage to send the Timberwolves to a victory.

Bryce Evans scored two touchdowns, including a long run around end, and Danny Myles, Christian Waters and Tyler Roberts had long scoring runs. Lorenzo Toro and Alex Riffie each had a two-point conversion catch.

Receiver Robert Tupou blocked well, and defensive linemen Mitchell Sarmento and Zayne Barker helped stuffed the Natomas run game.
