Since 1985, America has celebrated July as National Parks and Recreation Month and Roseville has good reason to celebrate thanks to our quality parks and fun programs.

With 64 parks, three pools, two public golf courses and more than 5,000 acres of open space, there are plenty of facilities and areas for our residents to enjoy.

This year, we are providing even more reasons to celebrate with weekly specials on our Facebook page. Offers include discounts on programs, free swimming, free fitness classes and more. Be sure to "like us" on Facebook at www.facebook.com/rosevilleparks to find out about our latest offer. If you already signed up to our Facebook page, look for the discounts we offer every Thursday as part of our Thank You Thursday program.

Sixty-eight percent of Californians report visiting a park at least once a month. It would take more than an entire year to enjoy each park in Roseville if you planned to visit a different one each week. We encourage you to visit at least one new park each week during National Parks and Recreation Month.

As your family looks for fun activities to take part in this summer, check out the variety of programs and events offered by the Roseville Parks, Recreation and Libraries Department. Visit our website at www.roseville.ca.us/parks for our Summer 2012 Recreation Guide.

City View is provided by the city of Roseville. Dominick Casey is the director of the Parks, Recreation & Libraries Department.
