Mama Bootcamp Week 4: Getting my mojo back!
Editor's note: Stephanie Garcia is chronicling her experience doing the six-week Mama Bootcamp program.
Maybe it’s true: do something for 21 days and it becomes a habit. I don’t know for sure, but it is a coincidence to me that at the end of my third week, something has changed.
Bootcamp is in my blood. It’s in my dreams. It’s in every conversation I have with my friends. I look forward to Bootcamp and I am going to bed on time so that I can be well-rested. I’m taking my multivitamin and I’m drinking my 80 ounces of water.
And, I’m in a routine. Taking the advice from the drill instructor, I got up each day and attended a morning Bootcamp four days in a row.
My body feels lighter. My clothes are looser, and my sister commented that my face looked thinner. If that’s not motivation, I don’t know what is.
Now if I could just keep my food journals up to date. I’m still having a hard time writing everything down and I don’t know why. But, I am eating better. I am snacking on protein-rich snacks every two hours, and that tends to satisfy my appetite. However, I know that I could do better.
My “after” measurements will be taken on June 20, so I have two weeks to end strong. I’m looking forward to it, but there is a sneaking afterthought that my food choices might be my ultimate sabotage.
So, for the next two weeks, I am cutting out all added sugar and white flour. This is going to be difficult, but I need to get my eating habits aligned with the way my body is starting to feel — strong, and motivated for change.
