Eskaton Village Roseville recently held a kite day for its residents as a ?Thrill of a Lifetime.? ?Thrill of a Lifetime? defines a life-enriching experience that generates anticipation, excitement, satisfaction and memories. Eskaton coordinates individual and group thrills for its residents and program participants to support the notion that older adults are individuals who live in the present and value the future. Residents from independent living, assisted living and memory care, as well as staff members, teamed up and held the event May 23. When residents were asked about exciting moments that took place during their childhood, some brought up flying a kite. Some residents had never flown a kite before, and others were eager to do it again, so kite day was planned. ?I (was) so excited,? resident Margit Koh-bacher said. ?I (had) never flown a kite before.? Those that had flown a kite before were not disappointed. ?(That was) the first time I (had) flown a kite sitting down,? resident Arlene Olson said. Residents, family members and staff were all served root beer floats to enjoy during the festivities. ?There?s still some kid in all of us,? resident Lois Marshall said. ~ Staff report
