Roseville Police Chief Daniel Hahn thinks he is the fastest person in Roseville. If you would beg to differ, Hahn is posing a challenge to run faster than he does at the upcoming ?Run Crime Out of Roseville 5K? on July 4. According to a statement released by the Roseville Police Department, Hahn thinks he can beat anyone in the community, even while running backward. ?We?re hoping people will come out in costumes and make it their goal in life to beat Chief Hahn,? said Dee Dee Gunther of the Roseville Police Department. ?He?s very fast. We need somebody to prove they can beat him.? The family fun run will begin at 7:45 a.m. at Royer Park, 190 Park Drive in Roseville, and will coincide with the city of Roseville?s annual 4th of July parade, which will commence after the run. Teams of any size are welcome and awards will be given out to the department, association or team that is the most patriotically dressed or has the funniest attire. Awards will also be given to the top team finishers and to anyone who actually beats the police chief. The event will benefit Roseville Crime Stoppers, which has been successful in achieving 66 convictions and recovering more than $52,000 worth of property and $11,000 in narcotics over the past several years, Gunther said. Registration for the run before June 20 is $25 per adult, $20 for children and $80 for a family of four. After June 20, registration increases by $5 and T-shirts are not guaranteed. Proceeds will help pay rewards to citizens who call Roseville Crime Stoppers and provide tips. Toby Lewis can be reached at tobyl@goldcountrymedia.com.
