Granite Bay High School rolled to another Sierra Foothill League girls tennis championship and now hopes to roll to its fifth consecutive Sac-Joaquin Section Division II team tennis title.

The Grizzlies defeated Jesse Bethel 8-1 on Tuesday and play host to Christian Brothers at 2 p.m. Monday in a quarterfinal.

Granite Bay is led by twins Chloe and Lily Forlini and sisters Kara and Kammy Kecki, but there’s more to this team.

Lauren Bonham didn’t lose an SFL match at No. 5 singles, and the teams of Jessie Southward and Kayla Cline, and Esha Lal and Brooke Williams have been “steady” at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles, according to coach Rory Wood, who took the helm when Polly Hunter stepped down after last season.

“It’s nice to have talent and good leaders at the top,” Wood said of the Forlinis and Keckis. “They motivate by what they do for the team.”

The semifinals are Wednesday and the championship Friday.

Mira Loma 7, Oakmont 2 — Ali Doerr at No. 3 singles and Aria Sherazee at No. 6 scored the only wins for the Vikings in their loss to the Matadors in the Division II round of 16.

“The other girls played tough to the end,” Oakmont coach Kevin Chorjel said. “It was a great season for us, and we had lots of fun.”
