Granite Bay, Roseville move on to youth football playoffs

Granite Bay’s Pee Wee football team used several big plays to conclude the regular season with a 42-8 romp over Del Campo last weekend, its eighth win in a row.

Jade Foddrill returned an interception 85 yards for a touchdown, and Josh Farr had a 50-yard pick six. Farr threw an 80-yard scoring pass to Blake Peterson, who also had a 75-yard scoring run, and Zachary Grable ran for two touchdowns.

The Junior Grizzlies (8-1 overall, 7-1 Sierra Valley USA), seeded second for the playoffs, will play at No. 3 Lincoln at 3 p.m. Saturday. Granite Bay defeated Lincoln 7-6 in overtime in week two.

Midgets

Oakmont 39, Whitney 7 — The Vikings (3-5) scored on offense, defense and special teams and outscored the Wildcats (2-6) 33-0 in the second half. BJ McCarter ran for two touchdowns and had a 63-yard interception return for a score to lead Oakmont. Christian Flores also ran for two touchdowns and totaled 93 yards rushing and receiving.

Linebacker Timmy Balmain had seven tackles, a fumble recovery and two sacks, one for a safety. Nick Lane had six tackles, two sacks and a fumble recovery, and ends Rickey Williams Jr. and Tito Rocha combined for nine tackles and four sacks. Gabe Trujillo also recovered a fumble, and Braeden Borges kicked a 39-yard field goal.

Junior Pee Wees

Woodland 16, Roseville 14 — The Junior Tigers lost in overtime but advanced to the playoffs as a No. 2 seed and will play No. 3 Lincoln on Saturday. Parker Henry had a 69-yard touchdown run for Roseville, and David Chambers’ interception in the red zone stopped a Woodland drive. Carson Blatnick scored on a two-yard run in OT.

Youth soccer

Keiki Kickers 5, Roxys 1 — Isabel Ronald and Megan Huber scored two goals each and Gracie Harada scored one as the Kickers won the U-10 match for teammate Kylie Nguyen, who is battling leukemia.

Roseville Cougars 6, Rocklin Copperheads 0 — Sebastian Walker scored three goals and Carson Ferro scored from midfield to lead the Cougars in a U10 boys match. Bret Knudsen had a goal and two assists, and Luke Greco scored.

Earthquakes 6, Collision 0 — Michael Marovich had a hat trick, Kaden Belton scored two goals, and Andrew Gordon scored one for the Earthquakes in a U8 match.
