All ages mark Memorial Day at Eskaton Village
By: King Norman Rosenberg Special to Roseville Press Tribune
An unusual Memorial Day remembrance and respectful tribute to veterans, particularly to those who served in World War II, was held at the Eskaton Village Roseville recreation center. The uniqueness was the age of the elderly veterans and the youth of Cub Pack 37 of Roseville. It was extremely heartwarming to watch Cub Pack 37 members as young as 6 years old paying tribute to the veterans, some of whom were in their 90s. The young Cub Pack troop presented the colors to a packed audience of all ages, saluted the flag and led in the Pledge of Allegiance. They also led in the singing of the National Anthem and "God Bless America." Then each Pack member read lines of a tribute to the veterans. This wonderful patriotic and emotional service was culminated with a Cub Pack member presenting each veteran with a beautiful greeting card emblazoned with an American flag on the front and a personal note written inside. It was a consummate and profound display and expression of patriotism, and an incredible source of joy and respect for our country for the audience and the veterans, many of them residing in beautiful Eskaton Village of Roseville.
