Woodcreek lacrosse scores first varsity win

Woodcreek Lacrosse Club’s varsity team debuted last weekend with a 1-1 record, including a 6-4 comeback victory over the Chico Rebels at the Redding Lacrosse Jamboree.

Down 3-0 at halftime, Woodcreek chipped away at Chico’s lead and went ahead 4-3 midway through the fourth quarter. Chico cut the margin to 5-4, and Woodcreek responded with a quick goal to seal the victory.

Zack Wilson, Sam Plecker and Brandon Knapp scored two goals apiece for Woodcreek, and Alex Robarge had two assists.

Woodcreek’s junior varsity led Pleasant Grove 4-0 at the break on its way to a 7-4 win. Woodcreek answered each Pleasant Grove run and maintained a three-goal lead throughout the remainder of the game.

Eddie Ramsey scored two goals, and Robert Rogers had a strong game in goal.
Woodcreek will be host to the Orangevale Rams today at the Woodcreek stadium. Game times are 10 a.m. for the JV and noon for the varsity.
