When Woodcreek defenseman Michael Lienhard went down with a dislocated knee in the first quarter of lacrosse action Saturday, he had one request of his teammates before being transported by ambulance to the hospital. “Win one for me,” Lienhard said. His teammates did just that, dominating the Orangevale Rams 11-5. Six different Woodcreek players put the ball in the back of the net, led by Sam Plecker and Sean Sandroni, with three goals apiece. Midfielder Trevor Brass added two more for the Timberwolves. Zack Wilson had two assists, one from his defensive position after picking up the ball in his own zone and racing up the field before dishing off to Sandroni. Woodcreek led 5-2 at halftime before Orangevale mounted a rally early in the third quarter when the Timberwolves were victimized by a series of penalties. But Woodcreek refused to fold, pushing its lead back up to 7-5 before dominating the forth quarter. The victory pushed the first-year club’s record to 2-3. This weekend, Woodcreek travels to Chico for two games, facing off against the Redding Red Hawks on Saturday and the Chico Rebels on Sunday.
