It didn’t take 11 innings for Woodcreek Little League to get a measure of revenge against its rivals from Roseville West. After Saturday’s thrilling 11-inning win by Roseville West put Woodcreek on the brink of elimination in the District 54 Junior division all-star tournament, Woodcreek came back to Lembi Park Wednesday night with an emphatic response. While starting pitcher Dylan Spezia quieted Roseville’s bats, Woodcreek banged out 15 hits as it won this one 11-0 in just six innings by way of the 10-run mercy rule. The win brings these two teams back to Lembi Park Thursday night for one final championship rematch. First-inning hits from Brennan Spezia, Austin McCarty and Cy Hynes got Woodcreek out to a one-run advantage. The squad capitalized on two Roseville West errors in the second to tack on three more runs. Dylan Spezia had an early hit in that rally, and Hank Pankratz delivered a big two-run double. The hits kept coming the fourth, when Pankratz, Brennan Spezia, Dylan Bell and Hynes all had hits to lead a two-run inning. Roseville West had just one hit, a second-inning single by Joe Butcoff, through the first five frames against Dylan Spezia. Woodcreek put the game away in the top half of the sixth, as it scored five runs. Pankratz led the inning off with a double. A walk and a Bell infield hit loaded the bases and then a walk to McCarty forced in a run. Hynes delivered a run-scoring knock and then Carson Farnworth’s single chased home two more. Roseville West managed two singles in the home half, but did not get any runs home as Woodcreek closed the game out and forced another contest to determine the district champion. The two teams will be back at 8 p.m. Thursday for the Junior division title game. The contest will be part of a doubleheader between those two leagues as their Senior division teams will meet at 5 p.m. at the same location to determine the winner of that tournament.
