Woodcreek, Granite Bay meet in SYFC Junior Pee Wee final
Woodcreek and Granite Bay will meet at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, at Bear River High School in Grass Valley in a Junior Pee Wee championship game.
It’s one of 10 finals being played at two locations as the Sierra Youth Football Conference playoffs conclude.
Woodcreek and Granite Bay are the only two Roseville teams in the finals. Woodcreek defeated Granite Bay 8-6 when they met Aug. 28 in the regular season.
Granite Bay beat Grant 12-6 in a semifinal Oct. 30 at Ponderosa High School in Shingle Springs, and Woodcreek topped Del Oro 6-0 at Cosumnes Oaks High School in Elk Grove.
In other semifinals, Oakmont lost to Grant 33-19 and Granite Bay fell to Folsom 19-8 in Midget games, the Oakmont Junior Midgets lost to Ponderosa 22-0, Woodcreek was defeated by Cosumnes Oaks 27-14 in the Pee Wee division, and the Roseville Mighty Mites were edged by Franklin of Elk Grove 7-6.
Roseville woman in N.Y. Marathon
Nicole Ward of Roseville will run in the 41st annual New York City Marathon on Sunday.
“I’ve ran other marathons before, but this is the biggest of the big and is on my bucket list,” Ward said in a news release.
