Nancy Holt of Woodcreek High School is one of six recipients of the Model Coach Award for the 2010-11 school year, announced this week by the Sac-Joaquin Section.
Holt is the only junior varsity softball coach in 16 years at Woodcreek. She also has been a volunteer scorekeeper for volleyball and boys and girls basketball.
Holt twice has been honored with the Roseville Joint Union High School District’s “Teachers who make a difference” award and last year started a badminton club at Woodcreek.
“We’re extremely proud that Coach Holt is receiving the Model Coach Award,” Woodcreek athletic director Lori Ann Donnell wrote in an e-mail. “She has been an amazing role model for our kids for the past 16 years.”
Honored with Holt were Bret Harte boys and girls golf coach Rich Cathcart, Lodi JV and freshman volleyball coach Connie Marion, varsity girls basketball and badminton coach Ann Talamantes-Ristow of Vallejo-Hogan, baseball coach Mick Tate of Turlock-Pitman and boys and girls tennis coach Ben Tsukiji of Tracy-West.
The coaches will receive lifetime Sac-Joaquin Section passes at the Scholar Athlete Breakfast on April 12, 2011.
