The Public Policy Department at William Jessup University is sponsoring an Economic Roundtable on human trafficking from 9 a.m. to noon Friday in the Lecture Hall at the University's Rocklin campus. The Economic Roundtable is co-sponsored by the Orange County Task Force on human trafficking, Agape International Mission and the business department and Chapter of International Justice Mission at William Jessup. The event is free and open to the public. The roundtable features the U.S. State Department’s senior advisor on the issue, Laura Lederer, the executive director of the office to monitor trafficking in persons. Expert panelists from the academic, business and policy sectors from California State University, Sacramento, Pepperdine, Vanguard, and William Jessup will also participate in the event. "Sacramento is one of the leading market cities and California one of the leading states for the crime of human trafficking and its related crimes of sexual exploitation and forced labor,” said Sosamma Samuel-Burnett, Chair, Public Policy Department at William Jessup in a news release. “Addressing these issues requires concerted leadership and problem solving from the academic, church, business, and policy communities."
