Oakmont High School graduate Melissa Triebwasser has been named head coach of the women’s basketball team at William Jessup University. She was an assistant a year ago for head coach Scott Pisik when the Warriors finished fourth in the California Pacific Conference and won 11 games. Triebwasser, 29, inherits a young team with 10 new players, including six freshmen and two veteran players returning from injury. Before joining the staff at William Jessup, Triebwasser spent four years at Rocklin High School, where she coached the Lady Thunder Freshmen team. In her final season the Lady Thunder captured the Sierra Foothill League title with an undefeated season. Joining Triebwasser on the staff for the 2008-2009 season are Erik Nelson and Shawnesy Patton. Nelson was an assistant coach last year with the Whitney High School varsity boy’s team and played basketball at Bethany University, a William Jessup conference rival. Patton is a 2008 WJU graduate who started on last year’s basketball team.
