Whitney's Alex Rodriguez signs to play basketball for William Jessup U.

Friday, Whitney High School?s Alex Rodriguez signed a Letter of Intent to play basketball for William Jessup University next year. The 5 foot 9 inch shooting guard led the Capital Athletic League in scoring last season putting up 18. 5 points per game. She also averaged 7.1 rebounds and more than two steals per contest. A 4-year scholar athlete, she was named to the All League First Team for three-straight years and was selected as the Wildcats? Most Valuable Player in 2011-12. She was also invited to play in the Optimist All Star Game. A member of Granite Bay?s Lutheran Church of Resurrection, Rodriguez felt the Christian University to be a good choice for her. ?William Jessup University is the right place for me to grow into my Christian faith while getting the opportunity to play basketball,? Rodriguez told officials at the school. ?I am excited to be a part of the WJU family and meet new people with different outlooks on life. I am thrilled to start a new chapter of my life at WJU!? Scheduled to be in attendance for her signing were Whitney girls basketball head coach Andy Carter and Warriors? head coach Guin Boggs.
