How do you plan to ring in the New Year?

Roseville has fun brewing on Monday evening, including the inaugural New Year’s celebration at Sammy’s Rockin’ Island Bar & Grill, which opened in downtown in September. Here’s a list of some events, and feel free to add other ideas in the comment section below.

Celebrate at Sammy’s

Sammy’s Rockin’ Island Bar & Grill is hosting the band Apple Z and you can partake in the fun with a $20 cover fee. Enjoy the restaurant’s Pan-Asian cuisine — have you tried the krudo bar yet? — while listening to the four-member band’s creative treatment of popular hits. The fun kicks off at 10 p.m. at the restaurant, located at 238 Vernon St. in downtown Roseville. For more information, visit www.sammysrockinisland.com.

No cover at Bar 101

Don’t want to fork over your life savings for a New Year’s party? Then hit up Bar 101 in Old Town Roseville, which never charges a cover — not even on the night of Dec. 31. The bar, which opened earlier this year, will have party favors, drink specials and a DJ spinning hit songs all night. There will also be a champagne toast at midnight. Swing by anytime you want on Monday and stay as long as you like. Bar 101 is located at 101 Main St. in Roseville. For more information, visit www.bar101roseville.com.

An afternoon of jazz

Why wait until night to get the celebration started? Invisible Touch Music is presenting an afternoon of jazz music featuring the Jim Martinez Trio, beginning at noon on Monday at Sherman Clay Pianos, 771 Pleasant Grove Blvd. in Roseville. Martinez, a classically trained pianist, will be joined by vocalist Laura Didier, bassist Giulio Cetto and drummer Tim Metz. The cost is $25 per person and includes sparkling cider, wine and snacks. Space is limited. To order tickets, call (916) 804-8370.
