Hear from Roseville council candidates at Jessup forum

William Jessup University’s Public Policy Institute will host a 2012 Election Forum to provide voters with information about candidates and issues for the November election. Roseville council candidates Pauline Roccucci, Bonnie Gore, Scott Alvord, and Tracy Mendonsa are scheduled to attend a candidate forum focusing on regional issues from 6-7:30 p.m. There will also be a proposition forum covering both sides of Proposition 30 (temporary tax for education) and Proposition 34 (death penalty) and Proposition 37 (labeling for genetically modified foods). Voter registration will also be available.

When: 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18

Combating metal theft town hall

In light of ongoing challenges with metal theft in Roseville - especially around stolen intake valves and catalytic converters - there will be a special meeting about new laws and databases designed to combat these and similar crime trends.  State Senator Bill Emmerson,  State Assemblywoman Beth Gaines, Roseville Mayor Pauline Roccucci, Roseville Police Chief Daniel Hahn, Roseville Water Utility Manager Ed Kritz will all be present to answers questions from the public.

Dine and Dash for Roseville schools

Enjoy an evening of food, desserts and drinks while benefitting local schools at Dine and Dash, an annual fundraiser for the Roseville City School District Foundation. This nonprofit organization raises funds to support the 17 schools in the district. Attendees will start the evening at one house before moving onto the second event, hosted at the home of Roseville Vice Mayor Susan Rohan.

Police sergeant to make sex-trafficking presentation

Get your civic-engagement on by attending — or watching online or on television — the Roseville City Council meeting Wednesday evening. Roseville Police Sgt. David Buelow and an FBI assigned to the federal sex trafficking regional task force will make a presentation on sex trafficking in the region. The council will also appoint a new board member to the Roseville Community Development Corporation, which is tasked with leading revitalization efforts throughout the city.
