Voters should receive sample ballots by Oct. 8
By: Staff Report
All Placer County registered voters should start checking their mailboxes for the Nov. 4, 2008 Presidential general election sample ballot pamphlet. Vote by mail ballots will begin mailing on Oct. 6. The sample ballot pamphlet will provide voters with important information about items to be voted on this election. In addition, polling place locations are listed on the front cover of the sample ballot pamphlet. If you are a permanent vote by mail (PVBM) voter or if you reside in a mail ballot precinct, your pamphlet will read permanent vote by mail voter or mail ballot precinct in the polling place location area of the pamphlet. It is not necessary for PVBM voters to submit a new request for a ballot. For voters who are not permanent vote by mail voters and voters who do not reside in a mail ballot precinct, the back cover of the sample ballot pamphlet can be used as a vote by mail ballot application. A request form may also be downloaded online at www.placer.ca.gov/elections. To ensure sufficient processing time, the last day by law that the Elections Division may mail a voter-requested vote by mail ballot is Oct. 28. Voters can pick up a vote by mail ballot anytime from Oct. 6 until Election Day, Nov. 4. The Elections Division is located at 2956 Richardson Drive in the DeWitt Center in Auburn. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.. Election Day hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. If sample ballot pamphlets aren’t received by Oct. 8 contact the Placer County Elections Division at (530) 886-5650 or toll-free in California 1(800) 824-8683 for a duplicate sample ballot pamphlet. Visit www.placer.ca.gov/-elections for more information on the upcoming election.
