Volunteers pack more than 600 packages for troops
Volunteers filled more than 600 care packages with goodies for U.S. troops at a packing party at Roseville Veterans Memorial Hall on Saturday.
During the event, organized by Sacramento Blue Star Moms, people packed letters, snacks, Girl Scout cookies, magazines, books, DVDs and lots of Halloween candy bought back from trick-or-treaters by Personalized Dental Care and Rocklin Pediatric Dentistry.
“I truly appreciate (the) continued support for our military and veterans,” said Blue Star President Vivienne Yamamoto in an email. “Even though this packing party has come to an end, we’ll continue to collect all year around. For those extreme couponers, we’ll be more than happy to accept your overages.”
Sacramento Blue Star Moms membership is open to anyone, including grandmothers of veterans and active military members. For more information, visit www.sacramentobluestarmoms.org.
