Valley Christian in position to tie for SMAL boys crown

Oakmont girls thump Casa Roble, but boys fall

Valley Christian Academy is coming off a 96-69 blowout loss at Vacaville-Buckingham Charter and a 74-46 blowout victory over Elk Grove-Lutheran.

The Lions now are focused on Thursday night’s game at Sacramento Adventist. If Valley Christian wins tonight and beats Yuba City-Faith Christian on Tuesday, the Sacramento Metro Athletic League would end in a three-way tie for first place.

Forest Ryan scored 16 points in each game, and Daniel Milligan totaled 22 points for the Lions. Josh Bowden scored 11 points against Buckingham Charter, and Micah Gunter scored 11 against Lutheran.

Casa Roble 59, Oakmont 41 — The Vikings (7-16 overall, 1-6 Capital Valley Conference) were held to 12 points in the first half in their loss to the Rams (20-5, 7-1). Justin Holmes led Oakmont with 18 points.




Oakmont 63, Casa Roble 40 — Brittany Martin scored 17 points, and the Vikings (18-7, 4-4 CVC) used a 35-15 run in the middle two periods to pull away from the Rams (0-25, 0-8). Kelsey Caudill and Olivia Francis scored 10 points each for Oakmont, and Sydney Sattelberg scored nine.
