Valley Christian opens Bradshaw Jamboree with blowout

Valley Christian Academy advanced to the semifinals of the Bradshaw Holiday Jamboree with a 70-23 rout of Elliot Christian of Lodi on Thursday in Elk Grove.

Junior Josh Flanagan made three of the Lions’ six three-pointers and scored 15 points. Junior Jason Gish had 14 points and six rebounds, and senior point guard Joey Parker scored 13 points. Parker scored seven points in the third quarter and combined for nine assists with junior point guard Kris Kobzeff.

Senior Jesse Peters led Valley Christian with 11 rebounds, and he had two blocked shots and two steals. The Lions totaled seven blocks and seven steals. Senior Aaron Perchaz and sophomore Josh Bowden had seven rebounds each.

Valley Christian’s aggressive pressure defense limited Elliot Christian to two points in the second quarter and one point in the fourth.

The tournament continues Friday and Saturday.
