Milestone comes one month shy of center's third anniversary
-A +A
The Roseville Utility Exploration Center expects to welcome a very special guest sometime soon: The 100,000th visitor to its facility. This major milestone comes just one month shy of the center’s three-year anniversary. And like any good host, they’re celebrating the arrival of this special guest — and all their visitors — by offering giveaways, discounts and activities now until the end of January. “We’re thrilled to reach the 100,000 visitor milestone,” said center supervisor Bob Garrison, in a press release. “This accomplishment demonstrates the importance the community places on environmental education and living a sustainable lifestyle.” To participate in the free prize giveaways, stop by the center to register for your chance to win environmentally friendly gifts, such as water-smart irrigation controllers, zero-waste lunch kits and sets of energy-efficient LED solar garden lights. Or register for the drawing by calling the center or visiting its website. Visitors who sign up to receive the center’s monthly e-newsletter by Jan. 31 are automatically entered to win. Winners will be announced in early February. The center is also taking 30 percent off the cost of its Green Living Workshops. Participants will receive the discount on all the classes they register for if they sign up before Jan. 31. Local environmental experts teach these workshops, which cover topics such as organic gardening, landscaping, composting, smart shopping and children’s art activities. Kids are invited to attend the center’s third birthday party and get their photograph taken with Curby the Robot between 12-4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8. The fully mobile, animated robot shaped like a trashcan can talk and interact with children. Curby, according to the center, teaches residents the importance of recycling and reducing solid waste in a unique, engaging and memorable way. ~ Sena Christian ---------- Roseville Utility Exploration Center What: 100,000th visitor celebrations When: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays until Jan. 31 Where: 1501 Pleasant Grove Blvd. in Roseville Cost: Free Info: Visit www.roseville.ca.us/explore or call (916) 746-1550
