Two-time champ Scott pulls away from field in Late Model main at Roseville speedway

Two-time reigning Late Model champion Matt Scott dominated the 75-lap main event Saturday night at All American Speedway, winning by 9.855 seconds over Ron Chunn.

Bobby Butler led 16 of the first 17 laps before Scott took the lead on lap 23. He led the rest of the way to score his second victory this season in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series.

Chunn took second place from Chris Scribner on the final lap. Scribner topped qualifying at 13.813 seconds around the one-third-mile paved oval. Travis Milburn won the dash.

Modified — Scott Winters beat Jay Linstroth to the checkered flag by 2.475 seconds in the 40-lap feature.

Winters was the No. 1 qualifier at 14.03 and started the feature eighth in the 16-car field.

John Mamula led the first 11 laps before Linstroth moved in front. Winters took the lead on lap 21.

Mamula and Linstroth won heats, and Gary Glenn won the dash.

Street Stock — Matt Camp led wire to wire in the 35-lap main. Mel Wilson ran second until he was passed by Kevin Owens on the final lap. Camp won by 1.098 seconds.

Wilson won a heat and the dash. Camp also won a heat, and Eric Price was the top qualifier at 14.947.

NCMA Sprints — David Goodwill took the lead on the third lap and led the rest of the way, winning by .229 of a second over Denny Burrell in the 35-lap feature.
No. 1 qualifier Ed Amador (13.65) won the dash. Burrell and Goodwill were heat winners.


When: Saturday, Placer County Fairgrounds, 800 All America City Blvd., Roseville. Practice at 2:30 p.m., grandstands open at 4, racing at 6:15.

Divisions: Airport Auto Brokers Late Model (75-lap main), Pro 4 Modified (50), F4 (50), Mini Cup (25).

Ticket prices: $13 for ages 16-59, $7 for seniors 60 and up and juniors 6-15, free for children 5 and under and $35 for a family pass (two adults, three juniors). Parking is $5 per vehicle.
