Officials confirmed that Tres Mexican Kitchen and Tequila Lounge at the Fountains closed its doors Wednesday night. According to Fountains general manager Yoncie Griswold, it was a planned closure as the company wished to rethink its structure and focus on its San Francisco location rather than Roseville. In a statement issued by Tres management, the company expressed thanks to customers, fans and employees for their support over the years. “We regret that it’s happening, especially so close to the holidays, but it was beyond our control,” the statement reads. “We look forward to seeing our Sacramento friends and fans in San Francisco once the Giants open, if not before.” According to Griswold, Zocalo has signed a lease agreement and plans to move into the space after the first of the year. Officials stated the company plans to open at The Fountains in the spring of 2012. “(Zocalo) will be a great addition, it’s a very family-oriented restaurant,” Griswold said. “It really fits the demographic of Roseville and this particular center.” The original Zocalo restaurant is located on the corner of 18th Street and Capitol Avenue in Midtown Sacramento and focuses on regional Mexican cuisine, according to the company’s website.
