Transient burglar leaves wallet at Roseville crime scene
A suspected home burglar was caught last week after allegedly dropping his wallet and leaving it at the crime scene.
Just before 7:30 a.m. on April 12, Roseville police officers responded to a burglary alarm at an unoccupied house in the 2000 block of Ajay Drive.
Upon arrival to the home, police found that someone had broken a window in the back of the home and made entry, taking video game equipment, according to Dee Dee Gunther of the Roseville Police Department.
Gunther said the suspect dropped his wallet, which contained his identification, outside the home before fleeing the area.
Around 10 a.m., Roseville police located the suspect walking along Vernon Street near D Street, carrying a bag of video game equipment.
Police arrested Richard Otis Perry, 27, a transient out of Citrus Heights, on suspicion of burglary.
As of press time Wednesday, Perry was still in custody at the Placer County Jail in lieu of $30,000 bail.
Gunther said the stolen items were returned to the victim.
