The front line carried the bulk of the scoring load for the Woodcreek High boys basketball team in its 57-40 road win over Whitney Tuesday night. The Timberwolves were uncharacteristically off target from beyond the three-point arc, allowing Whitney to hang around for three quarters before putting the Wildcats away with a 23-point fourth. Center Mike Kurtz led the way with 20 points for Woodcreek. The 6-foot-11 senior shot a high percentage from the floor and also grabbed 13 rebounds for the Timberwolves. Forwards Nik Milani (14 points) and Nik Stathopoulos (10 points) were the other Woodcreek scorers to hit double figures. Woodcreek (11-0) visits Merced at 5 p.m. Saturday in its next contest before heading to San Diego for a tournament between Christmas and New Year’s.
