A physical battle to open the season left the Roseville High girls basketball team on the short end of the scoreboard in a 74-43 loss at Bella Vista Wednesday night. The Tigers lost their starting point guard in the second quarter due to sore ribs, and after cutting an early deficit down to two points early in that stanza, Roseville was unable to stay with the Broncos. Bella Vista opened a 21-12 lead after the first period, only to see the Tigers pull within two at 22-20 less than two minutes into the second. From that point, this one belonged to Bella Vista, as it rolled off a 15-2 run on its way to a 50-25 halftime lead. The Tigers were never able to get back into the contest. Katie Simon led the way for Roseville with 13 points, while Kayla Granucci added 11 points and Kathleen Mulligan scored 10. The Lady Tigers are back in action against Colfax at 7 p.m. Saturday night, with this one being contested on the Tigers’ home court.
