A modest two-game winning streak became a thing of the past Tuesday night when the Roseville High boys basketball team fell 78-32 to Yuba City on its home court. The Tigers, who rely on playing strong defense and keeping the score down were not able to put that strategy to work against a big and talented Honker squad. Yuba City posted 20 points in the first period, added 19 in the second and then put the finishing touches on the day with 29 points in the third as it led by 68-19 heading into the final stanza. “We just did not show up tonight,” said Roseville coach Greg Granucci. “We early a lot on energy and we did not have it. We know that if we give up more than 12 or 13 points in a quarter, we are going to have a tough time, and that was a big problem tonight.” Senior point guard Jordan Magnusson was the Tigers’ scoring leader with nine points in the contest. Roseville will participate in the first-ever Titan Holiday Hoop Classic at Antelope High School this weekend. The Tigers open at 6:30 p.m. Thursday against West Campus, a team they defeated just this past Saturday.
