More than 300 visitors gathered at the Blue Line Gallery in Roseville Jan. 15 to celebrate the opening of three new exhibits and to hear who won awards in the gallery’s 2011 Open Photography Exhibition.

Tim Fleming of Petaluma accepted the $300 Best of Show award for his enlarged color photo of leaves and sea pods in “Lanterns #3.”

Merit awards went to Roseville’s John Johnson, Bob Towery from Granite Bay, Bob Perrin of Auburn, Jim Klein of Citrus Heights, David Robertson of Davis and Richard Ashby of Sacramento.

Exhibit juror Lewis Kemper missed the event, but “passed along his ‘congratulations to all the winners and to all those who made this the highest quality show I have ever had the privilege of judging,’” said Curator Beth Rohlfes.

Saturday’s visitors listened to music by blues band Breez and learned from artist demonstrations by Maliheh Bartolomeo and Debbie Gualco, exhibitors in the New Beginnings show.

Artwork from Robert C. Cooley Middle School students is currently on display in the Children’s Gallery. All three exhibits continue through Saturday, Feb. 12.
