Three Granite Bay football players will compete with Sacramento against the East Bay in the Holiday Classic all-star game at 7 p.m. Friday at Monte Vista High School in Danville.

Star lineman Gavin Andrews, two-way player Spencer Briare and defensive back Alec Naki are part of a roster that demands double takes.

Sacramento’s quarterbacks are record-setting Tanner Trosin of Folsom and Aaron Young of Vista del Lago. Trosin passed for 5,185 yards and 49 touchdowns this season in helping the Bulldogs reach the Sac-Joaquin Section Division II final. Young threw for 3,547 yards and 30 scores.

Running backs John Wiernicki of Liberty Ranch and Melvin Mason of Division II section-champ Vacaville rolled up 2,562 and 1,971 yards. Wiernicki scored 40 touchdowns and Mason 32. Vista del Lago receiver Logan Smith caught 152 passes for 1,899 yards and 11 touchdowns. Folsom’s J’juan Muldrow caught 122 balls for 1,895 yards and 23 touchdowns.

That’s a considerable amount of firepower Sacramento will send into the game it won 23-8 last year at Grant.

Also playing for Sacramento are receiver Matt Laughrea of Rocklin and offensive lineman Thaddeus Cox of Whitney.
