A Sacramento County teenager was convicted of felony assault after he tried to run over a Roseville policeman in an undercover drug bust, Placer County prosecutors announced Wednesday. The officer sustained minor injuries from dodging an oncoming vehicle driven by Walter Carrillo, 19, in a parking lot at Main Street and Foothills Boulevard in Roseville on March 6, 2009, according to a release. A trial jury on Jan. 26 also found Carrillo guilty of assault on a civilian because he hit the car of – and injured – a woman during his failed getaway, the release said. The guilty verdict also covered the following felony charges: resisting a peace officer, hit and run causing injury, vandalism, possession of illegal drugs and transportation of the drugs for sale. Carrillo faces up to eight years in state prison when he is sentenced March 25 at the Auburn Historic Courthouse. ~ Staff report
