Roseville Police drew their weapons on a Citrus Heights man and his 13-year-old son because they thought he was pointing a rifle in a busy Roseville parking lot. At 3:45 p.m. Sunday, a witness reported someone inside a vehicle was pointing a rifle as cars were driving by. When officers arrived with guns drawn, they discovered the man, whose identity was not released, was assembling a “blow gun” – a long hollow tube used to shoot darts – and not a rifle. The man had allegedly purchased the blow gun out of state. It’s illegal to sell, use or possess a blow gun in California, Police Spokeswoman Dee Dee Gunther said, unless you’re an animal control officer or a zookeeper. A report was forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for consideration of charges.
