Strikers strike twice in Hot August Blast Off in Roseville

The Strikers and the Lightning Strikers of the Eureka Youth Soccer Club each won age-group championships in the Hot August Blast Off girls tournament last weekend at Maidu Park.

The Lightning Strikers gained revenge in winning the U10/U11 title, while there was no touching the Strikers in the U12 competition.

The U12 Strikers went 3-0 in pool play, outscoring three foes 10-0. The Strikers edged the Eureka Crush 1-0, the Eureka Shock 6-0 and the Rocklin Shockwave 3-0 before defeating the Crush again 1-0 in the final.

The Crush advanced to the championship match by blanking the Shockwave 1-0 and the Shock 3-0.

The Lightning Strikers lost to the SSA Dolphins 2-0 in their opening match but came back to beat the Dolphins 1-0 for the championship.

The Lightning Strikers defeated RC Freedom 2-0 and the Eureka All-Stars 4-1 on their way to the final.

In other divisions:

Girls U19: The Kickin’ Chickens defeated the Eureka Attack 1-0 in the tournament opener and were 3-0-1 overall for the title.

The Attack won its next three matches: 4-0 over the Rocklin Blue Heat, 3-0 over the Eureka Grizzlies and 1-0 over Sunrise Elite.

Girls U18: The Folsom Stampede won the championship with one point more than the GCU Strikers. The sides tied 0-0 in the final match of pool play, and both had 2-0-2 records.

Girls U15/U16: The Sunrise Fury defeated the Eureka Lightning 3-1 and won the division with a 3-0-1 record.

The Lightning went 3-1 and scored a division-best 13 goals. The Lightning defeated the GCU Barracudas 4-0, the Eureka Galaxy 5-0 and the Eureka Flames 3-0.

Girls U13: The Solano Fire edged the CVU Rapids 1-0 in the final.

Girls U9: The Folsom Storm blitzed the El Dorado Hills Soccer Club Arsenal 3-0 in the title match.
