Granite Bay scored on its first possession and never looked back in rolling to a 30-0 victory over Placer in a Sierra Valley USA Football and Cheer Pee Wee game Saturday.
A 14-yard touchdown run by Evan Tattersall gave the Junior Grizzlies the lead, and they built a 22-0 halftime spread on scoring jaunts of 19 yards by Josh Farr and 40 yards by Blake Peterson running behind a dominating offensive line.
Farr passed 40 yards to Jade Foddrill for Granite Bay’s other touchdown, and Doug Mitchell kicked two extra points.
The Grizzlies’ defense made several big plays to record a shutout, including two interceptions by Peterson, an interception by Matthew Barron and a fumble recovery by Nolan Stabbert. Bryce Cassidy blocked a punt, and William Craig and Jacob Weber tackled the Placer quarterback in the end zone for a safety.
“We are fortunate in that we were able to execute our game plan early on, and then get a lot of game time experience for our younger players,” head coach Jeff Powers said.
