Granite Bay backed up its third straight tournament consolation crown with a 63-53 win at Sheldon. The Grizzlies opened up a 14-4 lead in the first quarter, and then survived a Husky run with a big third quarter to put the game away. Sarah Sciascia led four Grizzlies in double digits with 15 points, five rebounds and five steals. Seniors Libby Jelinek (11 points, seven rebounds and four steals) and Hannah Mashaw (11 points, seven rebounds) and Junior Jessica Hamby (11 points, 11 rebounds) completed the balanced Granite Bay attack. "I am really happy with our effort tonight,” said Granite Bay coach Melissa Triebwasser. “Anytime you have four players in double digits it shows a balanced and unselfish attack. We broke the press confidently and played excellent team defense. Sheldon is an excellent team, and a win like this on the road is very rewarding.” The Grizzlies will participate in the 16-team four-day Folsom Bulldog Winter Classic next week, beginning with a 1:30 p.m. Monday date with Burbank.
