Woodcreek hosts Monte Carlo Night

Woodcreek High School will host an inaugural Monte Carlo Night to benefit its football program from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, at Legends Bar and Grill at Woodcreek Golf Club, 5880 Woodcreek Oaks Blvd. in Roseville. PCOE hosts health and safety faire

The Placer County Office of Education is hosting a free Children's Health and Safety Faire from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Sept. 28 at Loomis Basin Community Park, 6909 King Road. Childcare providers, parents, teachers and children 5 and under are invited to attend. Learn about disaster preparedness, safety, health, nutrition and more. National Merit semifinalists named

Five local high school students have been named semifinalists in the 58th annual National Merit Scholarship Program, which was announced Wednesday. They include Erin Garrison from Woodcreek High School and Gokulkrishna Asokan, Denisa Budean, Megan Hansen, Bryce McIntyre of Granite Bay High School. Of the 16,000 semifinalists, 8,300 will win a National Merit Scholarship.

Applications available for free, reduced-price meals

Roseville City School District provides free and reduced-price meals for children served under the National School Lunch Program and/or School Breakfast Program at K-8 schools in the district and Dry Creek Joint Elementary School District. Applications are available at the principal's office in each school or may be submitted online. Applications may be submitted at any time during the school year.
