Greenhills teacher wins literacy award

Greenhills Elementary School multi-age class teacher Kim Gerould recently received the Seeds of Literacy Award from the Placer Area Reading Council. This award was presented at a reception March 29 and highlights her ability to captivate the imagination of her students in creative ways, according to Principal Peter Towne.

“Students in Kim’s class try harder, achieve more and are more successful because of her leadership,” Towne wrote in his nomination letter. “Her impact on her students, and on our school, will reap benefits for us all for many years to come.”

The council serves schools in three counties and members include teachers, administrators, parents, librarians, paraprofessionals, students and others interested in promoting literacy.
