Dry Creek registration begins soon
Registration for transitional kindergarten through eighth grade in the Dry Creek Joint Elementary School District begins Monday, Jan. 28. If your child was born in 2008 and will be 5 years old on or before Oct. 1, 2013, your child is eligible for kindergarten. Packets will be available for pickup in school offices and applications will be accepted by mail only through Feb. 15. Beginning Tuesday, Feb. 19, parents may register at the school office.
To receive the packet, submit copies of birth certificate, proof of residency and either the most current utility bill, rental agreement, copy of purchase agreement, property tax receipt, voter registration, pay stub, correspondence from a government agency or notarized declaration of residency. Roseville High School hosts Academic Decathlon
The 27th annual Placer County Academic Decathlon takes place Saturday, Feb. 2 at Roseville High School, located at 1 Tiger Way, and the public is invited to attend the Super Quiz competition at 3 p.m. This year’s decathlon theme is “Russia” and teams from Antelope, Lincoln, Rocklin and Roseville high schools will compete. Students are tested on economics, math, language and literature, social science, music and fine arts. Students also perform a prepared and impromptu speech, write an essay and are interviewed by a panel of business people. Each student competes in 10 events. Placer County’s winning team will take part in the California Academic Decathlon.
