School Bulletin: Blabtree officially launches
Blabtree officially launches
Blabtree.com, a website created as a platform for students to share positive messages with one another, officially launched Jan. 1. The Sacramento-based website has been running for a couple years, and Woodcreek High School in Roseville was an early adopter. But this launch is its formal attempt to attract more high schools and teenagers to sign up on the free site. The website’s goal is to counter cyber-bullying with positivity and break down barriers among teens, according to its founder Nikolas Woods in a press release.
On Blabtree.com, each school gets their own “tree,” or page, where students and teachers log on and make “leaves,” or posts with positive messages, for other students and teachers at their school. To register, visit www.blabtree.com.
Opponent of Common Core to speak
Teacher Orlean Koehle, president of the “pro-family” California Eagle Forum, will be the guest speaker at an event at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18 at the Roseville Police Department, 1051 Junction Blvd. Koehle is a staunch opponent of the Common Core State Standards Initiative, and wrote the book, “Common Core: A Trojan Horse for Education Reform.” The event is sponsored by the Eagle Forum of Roseville and Sacramento Chapter of the John Birch Society.
