Scholars earn Disney awards

Two local high school students each received a $20,000 2011 Disney Scholars Scholarship from the Walt Disney Company Foundation. Recipient Courtney Dale, a senior at Granite Bay High School, will attend California State University at Chico and major in liberal studies. Woodcreek High School senior Angelo Ciaraglia will attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and major in biomedical engineering. Fifty academic awards of up to $20,000, applied over four years, were granted to graduating high school students who are children of Disney cast members and employees from around the world. Winners were selected based on their academic achievement, extracurricular activities, community service and demonstrated leadership. ~ Staff report
