Santucci golf tournament set for Friday, Sept. 17

National AAU Senior Championships coming to Roseville
The seventh annual Bill Santucci Memorial Golf Tournament will be held Friday, Sept. 17, at Sierra View Country Club in Roseville. Santucci was a dedicated community leader in Roseville for several decades. An avid golfer, Santucci and California Assemblyman Ted Gaines founded the tournament. Gaines and Placer County Supervisors Kirk Uhler and Rocky Rockholm are this year’s hosts. Proceeds will be used for scholarships to help graduating Roseville Joint Union High School District seniors and students at Sierra College. The event raised more than $15,000 and provided 22 scholarships last year. The four-person scramble format begins with a 10 a.m. registration, followed by lunch at 11 and a shotgun start at noon at Sierra View, located at 105 Alta Vista Ave. Cost is $125 per person and includes range balls, barbecue lunch, awards, raffle prizes and appetizers. Sun City to host national AAU senior championships The inaugural National AAU Senior Championships will be held from Oct. 13-17 at Sun City Roseville. Competition for men and women ages 50 and up will be held in golf, softball, bocce, bowling, billiards, cycling, pickleball, tennis and table tennis. The golf tournament will be a stroke-play event at Timber Creek and will feature gross and net scoring for men and women in senior and super senior (ages 70-plus) divisions. Stars of outdoor reality show to appear in Rocklin Chad Belding of the TV series “The Fowl Life with Chad Belding” and members of Team Fowl Life and Team Maniac will conduct seminars during the annual Sportsman’s Warehouse Waterfowl Weekend from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 6640 Lonetree Blvd. in Rocklin. Belding will conduct a Q&A session from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Youth Soccer Day at Sierra College The Sierra College women’s soccer team will be host to Cerritos at 11 a.m. Sunday on Youth Soccer Day. The Wolverines are 3-0 this season, and Cerritos is 4-0. Cerritos is a two-time state champion. Kids wearing a team jersey will be admitted free. Tickets are $5 for an adult accompanying a child in a jersey. Honey Festival will include run/walk The first Placer County Honey Festival, scheduled for Sunday at Ron Feist Park in Granite Bay, includes a 3K/5K run/walk. Register at www.pchoneyfestival.com.
