The sixth annual “Run Rocklin” will be held Sunday, Apr. 26 at Johnson-Springview Park in Rocklin. This signature city event begins with a 12K Run at 8 a.m., followed by a 5K Run/Walk at 8:15 a.m. Children may participate free in the quarter-mile Kids Fun Run at 7:45 a.m. Run Rocklin has become a significant community event that last year attracted record numbers with 28 teams and 1,870 participants. The turnout allowed race director Larry Osborne to present the locally-run, nonprofit Matt Redding Scholarship Foundation with a $12,000 check. The festive event will once again feature food, music and prizes at the finish line. Food will include breakfast items, pizza and other delicious treats. Trophies and prize money will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age group. All participants will receive a commemorative, performance T-shirt. A popular Rocklin Police Officer, Matt Redding tragically died while on duty in October 2005 when he was struck and killed by a vehicle that was driven by an intoxicated driver. Adults can pre-register for $27 prior to race day and the cost increases to $35 on the day of the run. Kids 18-under can pre-register for $15; cost is $20 on race day. Teams of six or more people are welcome and all participants will receive a special team T-shirt. To register, visit www.RunRocklin.com.
