“We weren’t just riding them,” he said. “We were looking for pins.”

On his back in his match against Reed, Ash avoided a pin and won by pin in the second round.

Roseville will compete in Ponderosa’s dual meet tournament Friday.

In junior varsity action, team captain Clayton Strawn moved up in weight to 189 pounds and scored three pins for the Tigers.

Oakmont is seventh in Stockton – Junior Jake Elliott won the 145-pound division with a 3-0 record to help the Vikings finish seventh at the McNair Tournament. Elliott earned one win by fall and two by technical fall.
Also, sophomore Zach Sidhu went 3-1 and took second place at 215 pounds in his first varsity tournament, and junior Yianni Athens placed fifth at 119 pounds with a 4-1 record. He won one match by fall and three by technical fall.
