Fourteen-year-old Roseville resident Christiaan Young was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout at a Court of Honor held April 5th in Loomis. More than 150 guests attended the event, which hosted a “Road to Eagle” theme. Mini-roads were set-up throughout the event center with milestones along each path that described the many achievements that have enabled Christiaan to earn this prestigious award. A formal ceremony was conducted to present the award, followed by a reception. Written accolades were received from many dignitaries, including President George Bush, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Placer County Supervisor Rocky Rockholm and a letter of commendation from the Roseville City Council. Boy Scouts has afforded Christiaan many opportunities in the areas of leadership development, life skills training and community service. He also made many great friends along the way and was the recipient of wise instruction from several outstanding mentors. Christiaan continues to be active in Troop 107 where he has turned his efforts to mentoring younger Scouts and encouraging them to strive to reach the goal of Eagle Scout.
