Four years ago, the Junction City Silver Cup drew 50 teams to Roseville. Last weekend, it drew 121 teams and some 2,400 soccer players.
It’s now the second-largest Division 3 (Select) tournament in Northern California, according to John Cantlay, who has been the tournament director for eight years.
“It was extremely successful,” he said. “Next year, I want to take the title of being the largest.”
Three Roseville teams took titles in the Silver Cup.
The Roseville Cyclones and Roseville Crossfire won the two U19 flights with the Cyclones defeating the Roseville Ambush 4-1 to capture their flight. Roseville United claimed the U19 boys championship.
Finishing second were the Roseville Intensity in U15 girls, Roseville Atletico in U15 boys and Roseville Spirit.
