A longtime nurse with the Roseville Joint Union High School District earned the School Nurse of the Year Award for the California School Nurses Organization’s northern section. Registered Nurse Dayle Edgerton received the recognition at the organization’s spring conference April 30 in Sacramento. Edgerton has worked for the local school district for 13 years. She also serves as a First 5 commissioner and a board member for Healthy Kids, Healthy Futures, which is a regional children’s health initiative in the Sacramento area. California School Nurses Organization’s northern section annually honors a nurse of distinction who demonstrates excellence in school nursing practice and school health. Nominees must be a registered professional nurse, have five years of experience as a school nurse and currently practice fulltime as a school nurse. The National Association of School Nurses credits school nurses with helping advance the well-being, academic success and life-long achievement of students. ~ Sena Christian
